WCG attends Borderland Connect event in El Paso
Borderland Connect provided an excellent opportunity for WCG staff to network with companies, educational institutions, and industry professionals within the construction and infrastructure sectors. The event emphasized collaboration, workforce development, and business growth throughout the Borderland region.
CONNECTIONS MADE
During the event, WCG connected with companies and and organizations that could lead to future partnerships and opportunities.
Conversations with Western Technical College opened the possibility of participating in future job fairs and internship programs, which could help strengthen recruiting efforts and provide students with hands-on industry experience. Other colleges and trade schools also expressed interest in having WCG participate in their career fairs to support graduating students entering the workforce. This includes potential partnerships with trucking schools to assist with recruiting drivers and developing workforce pipelines for the transportation industry.
Industry connections were made with LVM Flooring, an El Paso-based company with multiple offices across Texas and potentially throughout the United States. This relationship could create future collaboration opportunities within construction and flooring projects. Additionally, Sarabia’s Portable Toilets showcased updated portable restroom solutions at competitive pricing, which may provide a valuable vendor option for future job sites.
Jordan Foster Construction and Equipment Share were also in attendance. They provide construction, heavy equipment rental solutions that could be a useful resource for future projects, including earthmoving, aerial, and material handling equipment, as well as jobsite support services like power and climate control.
WCG also connected with Cavender’s Western Store for the possible opportunity to establish an employee discount program for work boots and apparel or create a direct purchasing relationship with discounted pricing for company needs.
Overall, Borderland Connect created meaningful networking opportunities that could support future recruiting, vendor partnerships, workforce development, and long-term business growth.
